In 1974, St. Peter's was recognized as a mission in the Diocese of Western North Carolina. The Rev. Dennis Fotinos was appointed vicar and was shared with St. Andrews of Mt. Holly.

Home

Growth

In 1985 SPBTL became a full parish. In 1986, under the leadership of Rev. Todd, an aggressive building campaign was begun. Our present sanctuary was completed and consecrated on November 24, 1987. Two adjacent lots for additional parking were acquired two years later.

1990

Expansion

The Rev. Dr. Claude Stewart became the rector and served as a pastoral minister for the congregation from January 1991 until November 1995. On August 1, 1996 the Rev. Ronald B. Taylor became rector. The church now continues to serve the community through Christian education, worship, outreach and fellowship.

2017

Widen the Walls

We moved our worship space to Furr Hall as we 'Widened our Walls' once again and began a renovation project to expand our Sanctuary and Christian Formation space.

We celebrated our first worship service in our new sanctuary on Palm Sunday 2019.
